Just installed a Flexcore preamp in my Ibanez and it sounds absolutely divine! Tight bottom, rich mids and a very smooth high end. All of this with the muddy stock Ibanez pickups. Had some issues with the install process (operator error haha) and got the best customer service I've ever gotten. Nothing bad about the entire experience.

I know it sounds like an ad at this point but if you're in the market for a new preamp, you can't do better.

Now, just need to swap out the pups for something a little cleaner. Any suggestions? Looking at a pair of Basslines Phase II NYC or SGD Lutheries but always want suggestions.

Tell us more! Which frequency settings did you go with? Which configuration? Any chance of sound clips?

Thanks,

Matthew

Since I've got the old SR405 I had four holes and went with the 2.2stk configuration. I kept the master volume, blend and treble/bass stack controls and made the two most important changes (to me anyway).

I got rid of the worthless tone sweeper that Ibanez gives you and added a stacked hi/lo mid control and added a push/pull active/passive control to the volume (I've had a battery die on me at a gig, biggest annoyance ever).

Install was very simple, just had to clip everything together since it came pre-wired. The hardest thing I had to do was take the Dremel to a couple places that things didn't quite fit but it was a labor of love and well worth the work.

I'll see about some sound clips but I'm not really sure how to go about that.

.
Nice. Exact same mod I did to my 405. I'm leaving the pups, since it is my backup/travel bass. The sound difference is astounding.

This is my primary, and actually only, bass right now so the pickups are coming soon. I decided a few months back to just upgrade the mess out of it instead of buying a better one. Love the playability too much to get rid of it.
