soo hears the deal. i bought an mim fretless from my friend in january, and i have always noticed that the pickups dont blend, the pots go from full on to half/close to nothing to off. so bassicly i get each pup soloed or both. this is a parts problem as far as im concerned, i think it needs some decent cts pots is all. he says im crazy. he also says stop wasting money on my MIM and buy an american, but my bass spanks any stock american im in the green right, theres nothing im missing as to why this might be?

The MIMs already have CTS pots. The exact same pots you'll find on an American Series.

There's no blend control on a normal passive Jazz Bass. It's Volume/Volume/Tone. If you want the subtlety of a blend control, then you'll have to rewire to Volume/Blend/Tone. But the same will apply if you buy MIA.

you can blend them with the volume pots as well is what i meant. none of this matters much since im gonna do stack knobs. also i didnt realize that the MIMs came with decent electronics, this one is a 2003 if it matters, as far as i could tell from searching around they were low grade.

You can blend with two volume pots, of course, but you won't hear the blend change like you will with a blend control. It's changing, but it's not as apparent to your ears.

Before 2001 they had cheaper controls. But if you look at the parts diagrams in the support section on Fender's website, you'll see there are new parts lists as of 2001 -- they're shown under Standard Jazz Bass Upgrade. Same with the Precision. And the part number for the pots is the same as on the passive American basses.
