MIM Deluxe bass pup swap

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a 04 MIM deluxe J bass and want to swap out the noisless pups that come on it.. I was looking at the Dimarzio Ultra jazz pups and some 62 RI pups to replace it. does anyone know if either of these pups are worth the money to swap out the Noiseless ones that are in it now..i wanted someting with a little more growl as well as a little more output than the noiseless.

FWIW:

only way to know is to do, lots of other variables involved and everyone has a different take. In recall, you're not going to get an output difference of any significance and you may even lose some. Personally I go to the amp when I want more output.

If you are looking for growl and a little more output if you want deep phat and growl with more output then you want the DiMarzios.

IMO neither of those pickups compares favorably with the Noiseless Fender models. You'll need to step up to very high dollar pickups to better the excellent stockers.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you there. The Fender Noiseless are not a very good pickup tone-wise - ESPECIALLY bad when playing with a pick. They are very "Noiseless" but they aren't anything to write home about. I have an 01 American Deluxe Jazz that came stock with Noiseless and I just finished swapping them out for SD Quarter Pounders. The QP's are about half the price of the stock Noiseless but I think they offer about three times the tone.

I don't have any experience with the pickups he was thinking about as replacements, but I disagree with the statement that you have to spend alot of money to improve on the stock Noiseless.
