MIM Deluxe Jazz Bass help

Sign in to disble this ad
When the volume is up on the bass and amp there is no noise. Its silent. But when i start playing, there is a loud buzz. I noticed that when my thumb is touching the pickup, thats where the noise comes from. Any ideas to what it is?

Have you checked to see if a wire came loose from a connection within the bass? That's the first thing I can think of.

Agreed, ya know unless you just havent plugged in. But it sounds like a pot wire if the pickup is still making noise.

Have you checked your lead? I spent 2 days searching for the hum in a build I did and it turned out to be the lead the whole time. Also is it active? Check battery. It has no sound when you play, but the pups hum when you touch them?? Faulty pot? Its hard without having it in front of me.
