Anyone using EMGs with the MIM deluxe preamp? Opinions please. . .

Sorry no I've still got the stock pups in my MIM jazz deluxe 5. Which EMGs are you looking at? The standard ones I am familiar with have a preamp already built into them. They do have passive ones but I'm not sure they make ones that will fit the spacing of a Fender 5.

Maybe someone else has a better answer.

Actually my plan is to use the preamp with a pj emg setup in a Fender Heartfield Prophecy II.

No. I hate the EMG sound.

I also wasn't happy with the factory "noiseless' pickups either.

Eventually went with a set of (now discontinued) SCN pickups. Absolutely LOVE it now. Hum-free and killer sound! (Didn't cost an arm and a leg either)

Which Heartfield? Had a DR5 once. Love it...wish I had it back.

Its a dr4 in red/ black, super slick neck :-)
