MIM P-Bass... PUPs for hardcore?
I'm about to start recording in about a month or so, so I'm getting my bass ready for that. I'm thinking bright and clanky, similar to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuBCDM26T1Q , but with also with a bit more lower end. I was thinking of maybe getting SPB3s or DiMarzio Split Ps but I just want to know what you guys think. Maybe EMGs or Model Ps or something? Help me out please :)
This is my band so you can get an idea of the music I'm playing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tadukphjfg
I've used SPB3s extensively and am a big fan if youre after a non-traditional P bass tone. Expect bigger, grindier mids and deeper lows. The mids are scooped and (whilst many dont like that about the pup) I find that it doesnt step on the toes of the guitarists and muddy up the band's sound.
The SPB3 is played on this Sense Fail album. Not exactly like your band but similar kind of guitar sounds etc.
