Noisey Aguilar OBP-3 ???

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Guys, i have a Ibanez SRD 950 & recently I replaced pickups with U.S. bart's & an Ag OBP-3 pre.I am finding it (even in hum mode) very noisey thru a D.I. (tried several good ones). It is almost unusable. Is there a way to suppress the noise floor of the electreonics or did the installer miss something.I have done a quick search but didn't find much help. Thanks,Bluellew

Hum mode? What is that? What kind of barts did you get?

Can you record a clip for us?

the barts I got were the pick-ups MK5CBC-T & a MK5CBC-B.I am able to split them into a single coil mode. With the blend control set to middle (i.e. - both pickups) I can have single coils from the outside of the each humbucker & also the inside of each humbucker.I luv this use as they have subtle differences. On the outside single coil, they have a very clean/clear sound & if I flick to the inside single coils, they are a bit warmer/mid-range sound.Cheers, Murray

I hear mixed things about them being noisy. I have an OBP-2 in my Warwick and it's kind of hissy. But the electricity in my house isn't that good either.

Mine isn't noisy. Does your noise go away when you touch the strings, knobs, or pickup poles? Does the noise get noticeably louder when you solo either pickup? Have you tried playing your bass with a different cable through a different amp in a different room?

There are quite a few buzz and hiss noises that are entirely independent of each other, so it's hard to tell without a few trouble-shooting things.
