Noisy bridge pickup

Sign in to disble this ad
I was playing my Fender j bass today, and when i plugged it into my amp, it was really noisy. Like a mix between a loud hum and craclking, I figured it was my bridge pickup because when i turned it of it stopped. My bass is a squire so its not top of the line, will getting new pickups solve this problem? Or is it something smaller like wiring?

Could be a few things doing it...

Pup, pot, wiring etc.

If it were mine...I would just go for it...install new pups and redo all the wiring and pots.

That would be a guarantee'd fix.

Suggestion: J45's

A good chance for a nice upgrade....

seymour duncan's website will have your wiring diagram. Jazz's are pretty easy.

I agree with Muzoid. This is an opportunity for an upgrade. Squire pots are flimsy and their wire gauges are thin so go for it!!
