noisy fender active preamp

Hello! So I recently bought an 04 Fender American deluxe jazz bass V. Right off the bat I noticed that there was a strange amount of hiss-like static coming out of the bass. I know it is not a grounding hum, and I put more copper foil shielding in the bass in case interference was the problem, but I have had no luck getting rid of this static'ish type sound. It is not very loud, but it is too loud to be normal operational pickup/preamp noise in my opinion at least. If anyone has noticed these fender deluxe preamps to be a tad noisy in general please let me know. I just want to figure out if my preamp section is a dud and should be replaced with something of better quality? Thanks!

This happened to a guy i know over here in the UK,he had to send the bass back to fender UK to get the preamp changed under warrenty,so if i was you, don't get messing with it,if your not happy send it back and get a new preamp installed,or pull it and get another brand,Bart,Aguilar etc, hope it works out for you, good luck.

Same experience...

I had the same exact problem with my American Deluxe Jazz V. After a series of aggravating pickup and preamp changes, and a lot of wasted money, I settled on an entirely passive setup. It's cheaper, simpler, easier to fix if necessary, and better sounding than 18v active electronics. Oh, yeah, and it's absolutely noiseless. Best of luck solving your problem.
