(noob) Pickup recommendations

Sign in to disble this ad
Howdy folks,

i've decided I want to do up my very first bass, a Samick Stingray knockoff, with a refinish and some new hardware. I've been playing a fair while but it's the first time i'll be doing something like this since i've never felt the need to change from stock pickups in my bass

I googled for this image, but my bass is the same model. The issue I can see is the lack of detatchable plate covering the electronics, so if I wanted extra control knobs i'm guessing i'd have to drill holes which I would preferably avoid but could do.

So basically i'd like to know what pickups you would throw in this badboy, keeping in mind the body is still pretty cheap.

Cheers for any input.

Tesla just came out with an MM pickup that, if I had an MM-equipped bass, I'd spring for. They're still a relatively unknown company, even here on TB, but I have their pups installed in my two main players and am extremely satisfied.

Kind of weird there aren't more responses; normally people are all over these recommendation threads.
