Norddtrand Dual coils Wiring

Sign in to disble this ad
In my custom 5 string, I will have Nordstrand DC wired in series. I want a switch so I can choose between Series and Single Coil. Does anyone have a schematic for this so I can wire the pick ups in this way?
Furthermore, will there be a volume drop when switching from Series to Single Coil or is it better not to have a Series/Single Coil switch?
The preamp will be the AC Guitars filterbased preamp.

My experience is there will be a small volume drop in SC. The Bart site has just about all the diagrams you might need.

FWIW:

yep Bart has the diagrams. You just need to transfer the color code - unless it's the same (highly unlikely).

You're using half throttle so yeh there'll be noticeably less output. Unless the Nord's a quad, probable there'll also be hum.

If you have a pair of them Bart has a cool diagram running inner singles/both series/outter singles so all are HB.

I've asked Carey about the color code in another forum, and here's what he replied:

My wiring is just like Duncan.
Black is hot, green is ground (plus the bare wire) , red and white are the tap wires.
For series connect black to the hot, green and bare to ground and tape off the connected red and white wires.
For parallel, black and red go to hot, and green and white go to ground with the bare wire.
For switching, you can use any duncan guitar humbucker diagram.

Hope that helps.
