Nordie paired with Fender CS

I'm making a custom hoochie coochie bass.

I need to know the best way to pair my MM Nordie 5.3 with a Fender CS 5 in the neck position.

Should I get a pre? (I prefer passive)
Can I have both on at the same time with out nasty garbage sound?
on/off switch?
whatever......?

I'm trying to find out if this is cool before I start routing.
