Nordstrand 2-band vs. 3-band pre amp

Sign in to disble this ad
Just wondering if anyone out there has any thoughts/experiences/opinions on these two pre-amps or how they compare. I'm building a Nordy with Big Singles and initially spec'ed it with the 3-band to have control over the mids, but am now considering the perceived simplicity of the 2-band. I'm working with 4 control knobs which means the 3-band (with passive tone control, push/pull passive and mid-selector funtions) involves a bit of knob stacking creativity.

I have not been able to find a thread that directly compares these two pres. I assume they are similar but I know there are those out there who feel adding a mid control has an adverse affect on tone. Also, I assume the shelving on the bass and treble controls would be different?
