Lightbulb NORDSTRAND DC4 vs. BARTOLINI BC4C

As soon as you think you've got comparisons figured out...you're wrong. But, I'll ask for opinions re: above match.

I've got a 4-string custom I'm working on and the pup cavity size is set. These appear to be my best / only two pup candidates at this point. I would expect sound to be relatively close, but that's why I'm writing... ARE THEY ?

It looks as if NORD does series OR parallel, while BART allows s-p-split control via their pre-amps (or the Aguilar OBP-3 ??).

What think thee as the weekend approaches????

I don't think these two pickups are going to sound similar at all. Bartolini "deep tone" pickups have a dark, thick tone without much in the way of upper midrange or treble clarity. They are going to sound somewhat muffled. By contrast, the Nordstrand DCs are going to sound clear with a slightly scooped midrange and a crisp (but not brittle) top end.

I'll put the CBC series (Classic) Barts up against the Nords any day. Muffled? Not hardly. Nice and crisp with some nice low mids going on. Just added them to my Modulus Quantum 6

I put MK4CBC pair with the NTMB A/P pre into my cheapest bass (Ibanez SR500), it's now the best bass in my collection. They also sound great in the passive mode.
