Nordstrand Dual Coil Question

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a used Modulus Q4 in which the previous owner had installed Nordstrand Dual Coil pickups. I understand that these can be wired in either series or in parallel. Is there any way to easily tell how these pickups are actually wired without taking anything apart to determine if they are in series or in parallel? Is there a definative tonal quality or ourput level that will tell me this? I have a feeling there must be, if I knew what it was I should be listening for. Either way, I love how they sound. This really is just to satisfy my curiosity and my "need to know". The are running through a Bartolini 3-band preamp. Any thoughts?

if the red and white wires are connected together and isolated, they are in series. Black and red hot, white and green ground are parallel.

Series is louder and fatter sounding, parallel are clean lows and scooped in high mids with a crispy high end.
