Nordstrand DualCoil Pickups - Review/Sound Clips!!

Hi All! I received my custom bass today (Utrera Custom) www.utreracustom.com


I am absolutely in love and amazed with the sound, it has Nordstrand Dual Coil Pickups, and i decided to make a humble Review and sound clips to share, so i hope you to enjoy, and let me know what you think about!

Well, there's not much to say, these pickups are fantastic, are very well built, very professional, The covers are great, it seems to be made of quality plastic, it has a carved "N" Logo, The wires seem good Quality too, Under each pickup there's "N" for neck and "B" for bridge, so nobody get confused . The Screws are good but it can be better, like those you find on Warwicks (Or MEC), but that's just me anyway.

Worth mentioning that the magnets are very powerful, so much so, that the height with respect to the closeness of the strings is very low, about 4 milimeters, for me is too much, because i like to have the pickups close to the strings so they can act as a ramp on that spot, i tried to raise a bit but it caused overtones on G and D strings, must be because they pull the strings too hard? i don't know if this is normal or not, so any suggestions are welcome!

So let's hear these babys, Mine are wired in series (You can order in parallel) and each one has a switch Single/Dualcoil

The woods on bass are:
-Ash Body
-Quilted Maple Top
-Maple/Walnut/Maple Neck
-Tigerstripe Ebony Fingerboard

I recorded everything in Passive mode, so you can hear how works the pickup alone, without any preamp coloring the sound, no pedals no effects, direct to pc, Adobe Audition 3.0.

Well, I hope this helps, and remember that this is a very simple reference sound, is a cheap recording, In Live situation it's another story, totally out of this world, very punchy and clear sound, these are just the first pages of the book ...... In active mode, the earth rumbles!!!!!!!!!

Did you post the sound clips only temporarily, or is convertfiles.com messing with you...? If it's the latter, could you please post the sound clips on a different, (more reliable!) server?

I would really like to hear these.

I'm with metal...any back-from-the-dead love on these clips? If anyone else has Nordstrand DC pickup clips, maybe they can hijack and link here, too.
