For Nordstrand Experts

I have Nordstrand DCs with series/single/parallel switching in my recent Warmoth Gecko. I play it in single coil mode 90% of the time. Does anyone know is the DC single coil tone is similar to the Big Singles, Big Splits or Fat Stacks tone. I want to use whatever will do this in my next project and not waste the DC's versatility (and less $$!).

Hi,
nope!
The idea of the wider coil and twisted pole pieces on BS, BsS and FS is to have a fatter and bigger sound.
The DC (if basic wound in parallel) in single mode are more (very) close to a traditional single coil sound (same pole pieces layout and width).

OK. So this is would be closer to the standard jazz type pickups? I guess its the placement of the pickups on the Gecko because it does not sound like a jazz bass.

35" scale, DC in single are not = single coil (close but not the same), probably a different placement and different wood.
I'm pretty sure your bass will never play/sound like a Jazz Bass.
