nordstrand jazz 5 q's

Sign in to disble this ad
anyone know the measurements of nordstand's split coil jazz pups for 5 string? i have a 96 fender jazz usa 5 string and the front pup cover measures 3 7/8" and the bridge pup cover measures 4". i'd like to make sure they'll fit my stock pup covers...

also, anyone know the difference between the nj5s and nj5fs models? their descriptions are the same on the nordstrand website.

i've sent these q's to nordstrand with no reply yet...

thanks!

nj5s F (F stand for Fender)
nj5s is the more common "standard" size.

if your fender is a standard MIA dlx V, you sould be safe

M

BTW, when did you contact the shop?

one more thing:

THANKS !!!!

my bass is a '96 USA with a gold "50th anniversary" sticker on the back of the head stock, passive, vintage style Fender logo, string thru bridge, but no other model indicators.

from the measurements, looks like nj5fs will be too big, but the nj5s should fit.

from the link posted:

NJ5
Five string single coil pickups in the same style as the NJ4. Featuring Alnico V magnets and the same winding pattern as the four, these are very fat sounding with plenty of growl and bark. Includes black covers.

Pickup length: Bridge = 3.725", Neck = 3.725"

NJ5S
This is a split hum cancelling design. These pickups are designed to have a tone as close as possible to the single coil version. They will have a clean growl with the same interactive quality that all Nordstrands alnico pickups are known for. Includes black covers.

Pickup length: Bridge = 3.725", Neck = 3.725"

NJ5F
These are Fender Jazz 5® replacement pickups. They will fit into your existing covers and make your 5 string Fender® come to life. They are based on the same formula that makes Nordstrand's NJ4 pickups sound so good: Alnivo V magnets and Heavy Formvar 42 gauge wire wound in a simulated hand pattern. They have a nice growly bridge pickup tone, a big full neck pickup tone and a huge deep earth shaking tone with both pickups on. They will definitely make your bass sound better! These also fit Lakland® Joe Osborn 5 (US and Skyline versions). Includes black covers.

Pickup length: Bridge = 4.10", Neck = 3.965"

NJ5FS
Hum-cancelling, Split coil version of NJ5F. Includes black covers.

Pickup length: Bridge = 4.10", Neck = 3.965"

i emailed nordstrand a couple weeks ago and then resent a week ago. off for the holidays perhaps? i also email an ebay seller selling a set.

thanks so much for the link! that had more info than the nordstrand site itself. think i'll just buy from them :-)

take care,

tony

you don't wanna buy the "standard" size for your Fender V. You'll need the F size. (your mesurement is 3 7/8 X 4: F size).

Strange no one got back to you from the shop. But Stew was away during the holidays and Carey has been busy with NAMM....

Brian from bestbassgear.com is a super guy.
If you don't trust me ask Brian about the pup's size.

Cheers

M

BTW, Nordstrand is updating the website. There's gonna be all the info you'll need, soon....
