Nordstrand MM 4.3 : no copper foils?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys, I've just bought from an ufficial US Nordstrand dealer the MM 4.3 pickup for my MM sterling ( I prefer alnico pickup , not ceramic ).

I'm just wondering why there're not copper foils on the bottom of the pickup, as I use to see on the nordstrand pickups' pictures on internet.

I've attached the picture of the pickup I've received.

I hope you can help me...

Thanks alot

Since it's a hum canceling pickup,I wouldn't think it needs it.

Have you emailed Nordstrand? Email is on their website, and I have found them to be very responsive. Plus, THEY are really best suited to answer a question about their pickups.

Give the shop a call, that's always the best way.

I'm from Italy, it would be too expensive.

It's supposed to be a good way of communication emails ... I've emailed many times the seller and carey nordstrand, but no replies.

MOreover : in Italy nordstrand is not a common pickup, and it's difficult to find good information thanks to other people's experience.

So I was just wondering if someone could tell me something about the pickup on forums

I'm looking around their site right now, and I don't see any pics of copper foil on the pickups.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I'm sure they used a more expensive way to shield the pickup....copper foil is like the least expensive way to do so.
Take the MM-style Alnico pickup I got from Carvin. I was surprised to see no foil tape, but it's just such a well made pickup, they used a different approach:

compared to a cheaper MM style Alnico pickup I got on ebay:

thanks alot eastcoasteddie.

At least Carey Nordstrand replied yesterday: He explained me that they don't use copper foils since about 3 years ago. He wrote " We discovered that the copper foil was not a consistent solution for the noise issue"

Now a feel better about!

Thanks to everyone
