Nordstrand MM4.2 vs Seymour Duncan MM

I'm pretty set on the Nordie MM pickup, but didn't realise the SD was also designed to be similar to the older 70s MM pickups.

Just wondering if anyone has compared them?

Can't really see anything going wrong with getting the nordie!

I've previously owned the Nordstrand MM4.2 and the Seymour Duncan SMB-4 (ceramic version, not the alnico version which is apparently a bit mellower).

To my ears, the Nordstrand was stronger in the low mids and had more of an "organic" vibe to it. The Seymour Duncan had more bass and treble, but less mids.

The Nordstrand was in a 2000 Flea 4 and was a replacement for the original Lane Poor MM that I hated. The Seymour Duncan was in an alder Jazz body that I modded to remove to be a single MM. The position was a bit closer to the neck than the traditional MM sweet spot, so that may have affected the tonality.

I've got the Nordstrand in my Stingray 4 and a 5.2 in my Stingray 5.

I've never tried the SD, but in saying that, I've never felt the need to after putting the Nordie in
