I really like the NJ4SE they have the best low end IMO. The growlier the better for me, would be great to hear more samples of other Pus (Duncan SJB1 and others) on the same 60s bass. Iam going to get a 60s soon myself and what i heared at basstasters so far, goes into the direction of sound iam looking for. So whats the sound iam looking for?, its growly and growly means for me:
like a pissed off dog or like a V8 big block engine (at 2000rpm) where you can hear each single explosion (growl). No iam not stupin, its just because people may have different imaginations of a growly sound, this explains it best for me. Plus screaming and singing mids and highs and the sound is perfect (in my head of course). Basstasters goon, your the best sounds site, give it to us, give us more sounds

That's a great description of the Nord Jazz p/u - and I LOVE them. I have an Eshenbaugh J4 with Nords and it absoultely kills.... thick and growly, just like a jazz should be.

I have Nordstrand Jazz pickups too. They are good.

Which Nordstrand Jazz pickups NJ4 / NJ4SE will have more growl?

I have MIA fender Jazz w/s1 switching, would the Nordstrands be direct a replacement? Looking for that nice jazz thick and growly sound.

Some advice on how should I wire these pups.

Thanks

Would a nj4 + an audere jz3 preamp be a good match? Are they compatible? Thanks.

I wish basstasters would bring things up to date with current offerings of strings, basses, preamps, etc... waaay out of date at this point.

or at least just post a News post there saying "Sorry, there will be no more updates".

2 1/2 years with no updates, yet the site sits there feeding ads to anyone that visits... which is probably why the site remains active.

Oh, I'm just kicking back in my huge mansion counting all my basstasters.com profits. LOL. Yeah right. The last time I made a cent from that site was when A-Designs paid for the REDDI banner ad. That site is a labor of love, not a business venture - believe me, I'm well in the red, and still paying for hosting.

Oh, and to keep this relevant to the thread.... my Mexican Jazz with Nordstrand singles STILL floats my boat in a big way. I heart Nordstrand.

The main reason I haven't done any updates is because: 1. People stopped sending gear for "tasting", and 2. I've lost my GAS (thanks to Sadowsky & EA).

I'd be happy to do more recordings, just send the gear you'd like to see on the site!

Oh and to keep this thread on track, my jazz with Nordstrand singles is still one of my favorite basses! I heart Nordstrand!

This site was helpful.
However, does anyone have clips comparing the 70s and standard wind for the nj4s?

And I cant see how folks think the Nordy's are all "deep and growly" as compared to the AEROS or Fralins on that site. Groupthink instead of ears maybe? Anyway, it was/is a good service. Thank you.
