My Spector PJ upgrade project continues. I ran into some problems and I hope to have them solved soon. The current setup is as follows:
- Nordstrand NP4 in the neck
- Nordstrand NJ4SV in the bridge
- Two 500K vol pots wired direct
I thought this would be an easy upgrade but there are two "passive wiring" issues.
- Grounding. I shielded the cavity to minimize noise but I still get very faint "electrical pops" when I ground myself to the strings or bridge. Any suggestions?
- Turning the bridge pup vol control to max thins out the tone even with the pup hanging out of the bass as pictured. Is it because the two pups aren't balanced? Should I use 250K pots instead? The phasing is good.
- Turning the vol pots changes the tone also. The tone becomes less bright when I turn the vol pots down. Is this common for vol/vol configurations?
