Nordstrand PJ Help

My Spector PJ upgrade project continues. I ran into some problems and I hope to have them solved soon. The current setup is as follows:

- Nordstrand NP4 in the neck

- Nordstrand NJ4SV in the bridge

- Two 500K vol pots wired direct

I thought this would be an easy upgrade but there are two "passive wiring" issues.

- Grounding. I shielded the cavity to minimize noise but I still get very faint "electrical pops" when I ground myself to the strings or bridge. Any suggestions?

- Turning the bridge pup vol control to max thins out the tone even with the pup hanging out of the bass as pictured. Is it because the two pups aren't balanced? Should I use 250K pots instead? The phasing is good.

- Turning the vol pots changes the tone also. The tone becomes less bright when I turn the vol pots down. Is this common for vol/vol configurations?

This is my idea of having some fun while I wait for the preamp to arrive. The problem appears to be with the 500k pots. Anyhow, the preamp is ready and I'm sending the bass to Carey Nordstrand for the install.

The pots should be 250K for passive, also if the tone is changing with the volume adjustments, it sounds like it not wired correctly. Carey will fix it no problem.
