What are your opinions about them? I am looking for a set of J split coils. |

I currently have some of the 70's wind singles in my jazz bass and they are amazing. I've owned dual coils as well, which were also fantastic pickups. I will likely be purchasing some of the NJ5's for an upcoming fretless as well.
I say get 'em! |

Carey is a great guy to deal with, he makes a quality product, and the pickups are leagues above most stock instruments. As well, his split-coil jazz pickups sound much more like a true single coil than many of the other splits that I've tried.

The split coils you are thinking about are great as well, the only difference is that you dont get the Hum (split coils the hum). I definatelly reccomend them.

| | | | I have the NJ4SE's in a Modulus Vintage Jazz. They are quiet and sound great in this bass. The 'SE's' tend toward the beefier, lower mid side of the 'J' spectrum. I understand the NJ4SV's are more tradition, 'vintage' jazz sound (more upper mids, less lower mid and bass). Either way, great pups.........

He is the OEM for most Sadowsky pickups. That has to say something about him. |

Both sound great, and both a very "jazzy", but the E's are a bit more of a "modern" jazz kind of sound. The V's sound more like a single coil. Although, both are hum cancelling. |

Replaced the Bart's in my Roscoe with Fat Stacks through an Aguilar OBP-3. It's quite possibly the most ridiculous jazz bass tone I've ever heard in my life. I even haven't had the guts to drill a hole in the body for the taps yet.... |

Its the perfect pickup for my p bass. I have no experience with any other nordstrand pickups although i want to try the split coils in a jazz bass soon.
