Cool. Do you have more photos of the instrument?

Also, it looks as if the instrument has fanned frets - but the pickups will not be fanned?

So long as your pole spacing is correct it will work. Did you plan to mount the pickups slanted like the frets? This would require a wider pole spacing that a standard 7 string bass pickup.

The pu's are not gonna be angled, I don't think. They are different spacings tho...

Dude, you should know if your pups are gonna be angled and I hope your stringspacing matches the pole spacing?

Don't freak out. Measure the distance between the center of the two outside most poles and then talk to your luthier and tell him what's up. He will know if they will work.

Killer looking bass by the way!

Jeff had ordered specific spacings for each pickup... had me worried for a minute...

PM sent about a single coil for my 8 string guitar.

Not necessarily. Dingwall has pickups slanted. Jean Baudin has a straight MM pickup on his fanned fret Bee 9. GBC has a slanted (fanned?) pickup on his Bee 9.
I was just wondering what you were going for....

If the pickups are not slanted, the string to string tonal balance is not the same acros the strings. Depends what you are aiming for. My Villex-loaded Voodoo has pickups perpendicular to the strings and it's a different beast compared to my other Dingwalls (it's based on the area of the string that the sensor picks his info from)
