Nordstrand singles vs. Fender CS 60's

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I'm debating between Nordstrand singles (passive) and Fender Custom Shop 60's pickups (also passive). The bass is a 75 RI J bass w/ash-maple. What are the differences in these two pickups and what would you prefer if price is identical?

Pickup placement is a bit different (60's placement rather than 70's). I have one of the MIJ's and I replaced the pickups with the Genuine Fender USA 75 Reissue Jazz Bass pickup set. I think that they really sound great. Really nails the 70's tone.

I like the cs60's as well but they are a bit hotter than the pickups in my other basses. Something to keep in mind if you plan on switching basses. I'm not sure how they would sound in an ash bodied bass. I thought the nordies were a little over hyped. They sound great but I liked the cs60's a bit better from what I remember. I heard both in an alder bass so keep that in mind. If I were to buy pickups for another cij 75ri i would still go with the same pickups I did. That is one of my favorite basses and I have a couple of 1976 jazzes to compare it to. Good luck.

Just wondering, which set did you decide on?
