Nordstrands in a 55-01?

Have any of you put Nordstrand Big Singles, Fat Stacks or Dual Coils in a Lakland 55-01? I'm wondering how well they fit the existing pickup routs. On paper, from the dimensions, it seems like their size is close enough to the stock MK-1 pickups that there wouldn't be too big of a gap, but the the real thing may be different. I'm thinking that a 55-01 with Dual Coils might sound cool for under $1k. I've got an Aggie OBP-3 that could go in there too.

Thanks Bill, that's exactly the information I was hoping for. Sounds like a 55-01 with Nordies is a good move. Are you still diggin' it?

Months later...what settings do you find that you use the most? series, parallel or single?

Do you have a series/parallel switch for each pickup or is it a master series/parallel for two pickups wired in parallel?

I'm seriously thinking about some dual coils myself.

I use Parallel mode slightly more than the others. I use all the switching options regularly though. My favorites are.
Parallel, Blend slightly to bridge p/u
Parallel, Blend Slightly to Neck p/u
Single Coil, Blend Center, mid cut
Single coil, Blend to bridge, mid boost, bass boost
Series, Blend to Bridge, mid boost

it's a 4PDT on-on-on mini toggle. One switch allows both p/u Parallel/Single Coil/ Series. The only draw back to this switching is that you can not have one p/u in Series and one p/u in Parallel or Single Coil for example.

I'm VERY happy with the mod.
