i'm looking into getting some nordstrand pup's...with a pre-amp still in mind but just plain pup power what would you guys say for an open beefy wide ranged tone in series wiring
set of -
dual coils
fat stacks
i run a overdriven/clean stereo rig but sence i cant find and sound clips of any of these pup's w/ good sound
do the fat stacks sound more like a jazz style pup or a dual coil? and would hum canceling sound good for the fat's?
which would you go for, for a more wider growl/smooth in a way tone?

Here on TB there are several sound clips of basses loaded with Big single (very similar to the Fatstacks)... do a "valenti's basses" search!

The FS are more "single coil" type sounding. I love the way they sound in HC. In single coil they have a bump on the high mids, more aggressive. The DC are more versatile, louder and beefier (sp?), IMO/E

On Carey's forum there's some nice clips...

I have played on the big singles and they sounded clear and huge, they seem to be great pick ups.
