Nordstrands or Preamp on a Modulus Q6??

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Modulus Q6 Sweet Spot with Turbo Option and Bartolini Pickups/Preamp.. Here is a pic of it that I've posted up alot

I've been playing it a bit more lately than usual. My 55-01 has spoiled me with its really thick bottom end. I love how my Modulus feels and plays but it just lacks the bottom end I want. I know alot of it probably has to do with the pickup configuration but it seems like the pickups/preamp are really limiting it. I have to crank the bass up on the bass all the way up to get the thickness I want. Even then, there still seems to be some thinness in the sound.

My question is which way would benefit me more?

1. Keep the preamp and go with Nordstrand pickups? If so, which pickups should I look at?
2. Ditch the preamp and go with something different and keep the pickups?
3. Ditch both and go with totally new electronics?

Any help?

FWIW:

Don't know the Mod electronics but if they're like most, I doubt you'll do a Guam Turnaround with a different preamp.

Pup placement is on the odd side but my guess is probably designed for slap/jazz.

Don't know what Barts are in it but there are some Dungeon Barts that are so dark they're practically unuseable. Barts typically are a more refined, smoother sounding pup but they still usually work well to a variety of styles including vintage stuff.

My guess is Carey could deliver if you contacted him and informed him of what you've got and where you want to go.

Okay just saw the indication the pre is a Bart. Good as any for the most part.
