So I heard a comparison between this pickup and the stock stingray pickup on basstasters.com. Can some that has heard the Nordy MM p/u listen to the comparison on this website and let me know if this is the difference you noticed? If so, my wallet is about to be $120 lighter.

You should probably post this in the Pickups & Electronics forum, you'll get more responses.

There have been several versions of the MM "stock" Stingray pickup. I had a Stingray and I have another bass with a Nordy MM 4.2. IMHO, the preamp colors the comparison considerably. My opinion is that the current stock Stingray with the 3 band preamp sounds brighter than the Nordy MM 4.2. Again, I haven't been able to play both pickups in the same bass, but my general opinion is that the MM 4.2 is warmer and less trebly, but the treble that I'm hearing could be the result of different strings and a different preamp.

Yeah, That's what I thought. I'm liking the idea of less treble in the p/u. Anyone else with some experience?

I'm a big fan of Nordstrand Pickups, got a MM4.2 on a Ray some years ago. If you're searching for "vintage" MM sound, this is the pickup you want.

Comparing with the original 90's Ray I'd say the Nord is a bit more even, but as I don't have the bass anymore it's difficult to make any statement.

Another nice feature on MM4.2 in my opinion, is that the edges are beveled. That makes it a little more comfortable to play.
