Nordy NJ4 To....

Sign in to disble this ad
So i have the NJ4's in my bass now. I really love my bass. I am going to keep playing jazz basses for the rest of forever I'm sure because they are just more comfortable to me than any other bass. Probably because I started on a jazz bass.

ANYWAYS, guy at work brings in a Ken Smith yesterday and I get some time with it and it reminds me of how warm their tone is and how much I love it. Super fat tone to die for. My Nordy NJ4's are good, but they arent anything like THAT sound. Any jazz pickups that are more fat sounding?

Also, does anyone agree that Ken Smith basses seem to have more of a midrange to them, or am i just stupid?

Any words would be good, thank you.

(Note- Don't tell me to buy a Ken Smith...)

So what brand of pickup did the Ken Smith have in it?

I'm not completely versed on KS basses but aren't they all active? Maybe you just have a preference for active basses. Is yours active.

Mine is Passive.

Here is pretty much the model i played. By the way, i know that im never going to get an exact ken smith sound beings it has humbuckers and i have single coil jazz's...

The one i actually played was slightly different, but not by much.

EDIT - to answer your question...Ken Smith Pickups! lol.
