Norstrand or Barts for a MM Sterling?

As much as I love the MM Sterling, I can't take the harsh clanky midrange sound anymore. I'm looking to replace the pu's in the hopes of getting a smoother sound.

It's ironic that a MM pu's are by the bridge yet I can't get that classic "rear pickup growl." I want more mids -- but punchy mids. I also like highs , but "sweet highs. It seems like the stock MM pu's are all 2K.

So, I've narrowed it down to Norstrands or Bartonlinis. Anyone have experience with those? Or judging by my comments, what would you recommend? Thanks in advance!
