I listened to Lakland Chi-Sonics sound clips yesterday and I'm in love! What a tone! The only problem is they're not the right size to replace the pups in my Lakland 55-01. Norstrand soapbars are just about the right size, though.
Which of these gets closest to that Chi-Sonic sound?
Big singles
Big splits
Fat stacks
Dual coils
Thanks! |

Man, those Chi-Sonics sound great! If I wanted them in my 55-01 I'd have to get the pickup cavities routed bigger, and I don't want to do that. |

Why not just have the routings made bigger? at least you'll have the sound you're going for in the end. |

Pick a set and try them.
If they don't do it for you,
get another set.
Compare and sell the ones you like least.
Rinse and repeat.
BTW, I love the Fatstacks and Aguilar obp-3 in my Valenti. Don't forget the Pre is going to make a big difference, too.

From all that I've read and the questions I've asked I think I'd be going with the Norstrand Big Splits.
BTW: I think it's great that you're teaching in Elementary School! I looked at your website and you've done a lot, and yet you find teaching music to children to be the most important job you've done. |

I believe the holes would need to be routed neck to bridge, but would need to be filled side-to-side.
