Well I've got a squire strat and I'm redoing the soldering(my bridge pick-up went out) and I noticed that each pick-up has a letter on it N, M, and B. I asumed they stand for Neck, Middle, and Bridge but ifso they were inplaced incorrectly, the bridge PU is in the neck position and the neck PU is in the bridge position.
So what should I do? Should I change their positions?

On a Squire Strat, I think all three pickups are the same. So, it doesn't really matter what position they're in as long as the wires are long enough.

If you have a multi-meter, check the output of each pickup (in ohms). I would put the hottest pickup in the bridge position, 2nd in the middle, and weakest at the neck...

Ooops! I forgot. The middle pickup is probably reverse wound, so it should stay in the middle!

The best way to check for sure is to measure the DC resistance across the neck and bridge pickup with a multimeter.

Strat pickup sets have the hottest pickup in the bridge position, for example:

Bridge Pickup 6.5K
Middle Pickup 6.3K
Neck Pickup 5.8K

This isn't an absolute rule though - I was messing around with my Affinity recently and replaced a dead bridge pickup with a neck pickup from an Encore copy my friend found in a skip. Sounds great!

EDIT - beat me to it Slater!
