Onboard preamp recommendations for an Ibanez SR1005?

any good onboard preamp recommendations for an Ibanez SR1005 prestige series?

it has room for 4 knobs - volume, blend, treble/bass stack, and mid/mid freq stack.

so the preamp has to fit the 4-knob setup on bass. preferably East, aguilar or audere preamps.

So this is an older thread...but I'm curious if you made any changes with success or without for that matter. I have a 1005ewn that I'm thinking I need to change out the preamp in and am looking for some options. I see that Gerald Veasley uses the Aguilar in his new custom line but since it's different wood I'm not sure what it would sound like in mine. I'd love some info and feedback if available.

Very late reply to a very old thread...

My SR1000EWN had a Vari-Mid EQ that I never got the hang of. No matter how much I twisted those knobs, the sound was dull and lifeless. The EQ controls were overly sensitive to the point of being useless.

It now sports an Audere ProZ 4-band preamp and feels like a new bass. The playing dynamics are way better and there is improved clarity to the tone. The EQ controls have enough range to be useful that I never need to max them out. The 3-position impedance switch opens up a whole new level of flexibility. I'm still experimenting with these and really like the low Z mode.

I highly recommend that you consider this preamp as a replacement option.

Jeff
