Onboard preamp without bass and treble knobs...

Hi!

I was thinking of adding an onboard preamp to a bass I have that is, well, less powerful then the others I have. I don't really need a bass, mid or treble knob, just more power, but flat EQ-wise.

I know there's a little onboard preamp available on the market that does that, I think the price tag is around 65$, but I can't seem to find it or remember who makes it.

Any idea? Any other suggestions for what I need?

I think a Bartolini TC3 would work for your purposes. Check it out at http://www.bestbassgear.com/bartolini-preamps-tc3.htm.

I don't have any experience with one of these, but I've seen it in my travels. Perhaps someone with direct experience will chime in for you.

Why not use a boost pedal?

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

Try this - stuff it in the control cavity and leave the switch on

All non-PCB mount preamps can be wired with no EQ pots. The bigger question is whether or not they are transparent with the EQ flat. Be mindful of that when choosing a preamp.

Preamps are not usually meant to boost the signal. Many are unity-gain. If you want something simply to give a boost and provide the typical advantages of a buffered signal, without EQ, perhaps you might consider building a small JFET or opamp based circuit?

The Redeemer Circuit:

I've installed them in three basses. Perfect for my needs.

I could be wrong, but isn't the Redeemer a unity gain buffer?
The OP is looking for something with gain.

Most of the EMG active pickups come this way. You can add eq if you want but many leave them without. I had a Cort B2A that was active with standard tone control. No Bass/Treble. I also had a bass with some older Seymour Duncans (with the dip switches) that were active. No eq.
