P & J Duncans for vintage tone
Which model P and J passive pickups from Seymour Duncan are better for vintage tone?
their "vintage" versions, obviously ;) (smartassery aside, these are excellent pickups for just that sound)
if it's a P and J put together, look at the dimarzio area J for the bridge instead; it keeps 90% of the vintage J sound, but doesn't hum (which a single coil would in this situation).
the area J is head and shoulders more "real" sounding than any of the duncan stack pickups.
The Antiquity series, perhaps? Also the SPB1 and SJB-1.
I second that, Hamlet7768. I prefer the Antiquity II's for a bit more mid cut.
***Of note> Seymour Duncan will be releasing packaged sets for Jazz bass and P/J applications.
