p/j setup

i`m building another bass and want to use passives. it`ll be a koa p- body rosewood fretboard with a p/j setup want to stick with a vintage tone. any suggestions? i checked the search allready and it was no help, thanx.

Aero Type 1's are very, very good. The Bill Lawrence P46/J45 setup is not exactly vintage but they are bar none the best balanced PJ set that I've found. Also the quietest passive pickups I've found. Very clear almost transparent, punchy. I suspect that with the approproiiate cap and pot values they would do vintage well, but with real advantages.

I yanked my set in favor of the Aero's though. I have them in a Reverend Rumblefish and they just do it for me.

Nordstrands are great for vintage tone if you can get them.
