OK, heres the situation. I currently own a Washburn Taurus 5 String. At the moment, the only change I've made to it since I got it has been putting on some Rotosound jazz flatwound strings. I'm considering having the electronics switched to active, but I'm not exactly sure what this process will involve and what preamp to use.

Will the pick-ups need to be changed? What is a good preamp to use to get a nice warm deep sound? Anything else you think I need to know? Obviously I'm not going to do it myself, but I'm just after an idea of what will need to be done.

Any and all help/suggestions are appreciated.

Well it depends on what style music you play.... I have active EMG P's in my Yamaha and they sound uber nice through my Ampeg rig even without the Preamp so if money is an issue you could probably leave that out... I play mostly rock, metal etc and these really fit my style well. If you are after a more vintage tone you might try some Nordstrands or Fralin's etc....
