passive pups in active bass help needed

Hi guys
I'm looking for advice on a pickup change.
I have a Yamaha BB604 bass. It has the built in Nathan East preamp. The pups are standard jazz bass size. Having recently read smash's great j pup comparison here, I'd like to try a set of Nordstrands in my bass. Can anyone tell me if this will work with the built in preamp? Any info greatly appreciated thanks.

Yes, any passive pup will work with the preamp. The stock pups on that bass are actually passive, you just have an "active" preamp, so the Nordstrand jazz pickups will work fine.
