Quick question here. If I can get it answered a couple different posters, I'll do it their way. If not, I'll ask more questions...
I have a bass with two humbucking narrow-aperture pickups (2-conductor wire) already in it. The bass in question is a Samick SAKB-6690. Here's an image of the same make/model bass (mine is trans blue)
I want to install a an EMG35-size humbucking pickup exactly between them, which will put my pickup's center about 4mm bridgeside from the Sting Ray position. Not looking for a Sting Ray tone, just a bit more growl and punch that this location provides with whatever pup you put in it. Anyhoo, I ordered the template from bestbassgear, and it'll be here next week.
My questions are as follows:
1) Since all three pickups will be humbucking, there should be no problem with phase cancellation, right? If the 35-sized pup comes wired out of phase with the other two, I can reverse the two wires, right?
2) My plan is to ditch the preamp and wire up a v/v/v/t harness, just like a Jazz bass, only with 500K vols and a 250K linear tone. Should I expect any issues?
Thanks for any helpful answers I receive.
