Pedal Board Wiring Help

Hey there, I hope this is in the right section. I've been thinking about making a new board. I can figure out design ideas and such but I've seen videos and pictures if pedal boards with outlets and sockets on the sides and such. Well I'd love to give that a try, I can solder pretty well. I just have no clue where to start or what my options are for ports other than input and output.

There's 'how to' guides for effects all over the web, just dig a bit....start with some simple ones, like you, I was good at soldering, now I can read wiring diagrams like a pro, and make it.
