Pedulla Pentabuzz - Bypassing the Active Preamp?

Sign in to disble this ad
Recently i ordered a Fodera 2010 (outboard) Preamp, but since i own several Active basses, i would like to hear the opinions of you guys regarding the addition of a on/off switch (or push/pull POT) to my active basses, specifically Pedulla's (a Pentabuzz and an MVP 5), in order to use my new Outboard Preamp.

Both Pedullas have Bartollini pickups and preamps, and both are active (not quite sure if the pickups are active too or not)

The Pentabuzz has the BTBT preamp, and the MVP-5 has the NTMB.

I'm supposed to receive the Fodera preamp by Wednesday, so until i get a "safe" suggestion from you guys, i'm only planing to use this preamp with my Warwick Corvette $$ 5 (which has a push/pull POT that disables the onboard active preamp)

3, 2, 1, Go.

Unless there is something unique about the Fodera preamp, there is no risk associated with running the active bass into the new outboard preamp. It just may color the tone more than you prefer.

The Bartolini pickups are passive, and so adding a passive bypass is pretty straightforward if you have any solder skills. Here's the link from the Bartolini website.

I do have "enough solder skills" so i'll give it a try, thanks!
About the "excessive color" thing, that's exactly the reason why i want to be able to bypass the onboard preamp; i want to have the option to use either preamp separately, or combined...

Again, thank you so much!
