Pedulla Rapture J2-5 pickup replacements?

Sign in to disble this ad
I got this J2 see.....and I'm considering replacing the stock Barts J's with something a little more agressive, a little more low-mid bump.

Are there any pickups that you know of that will drop right in as replacements? Are the stock pu's a standard J-5 size?

I'm thinking Nordstrands, Aero's, Villex, maybe Q-tuners.

Maybe what I need is a different preamp.....?

Any experience with this mod?

FWIW:

Most Barts are pretty low-mid pups, the complaint is typically the top end.

There’s a bass mod link in the first paragraph of this thread that may be useful (see selecting pups - or something like that).

Have your tried raising them closer to the strings? That should make them more aggressive sounding.

Another tone problem solved by great strings!

Got some Thomastik Jazz rounds for Christmas, slapped em on, love what it did for the tone of this bass!

The highs and hi-mids really compliment the low-mid bump of the Barts, and the flexibility is great for me.

No pickup swap for me!

Very cool! This is helpful to me because I'm thinking about getting a five, and my favorite so far is the Pedulla. I tried one yesterday, and just loved it, but my concern has been a potential lack of aggressiveness with the Barts. Seems like there's no need to worry.
