Phase on my bridge J pickup

I have a P-J setup on my bass. I recently purchased a Fender-Lace Sensor J pickup on E-Bay and after installing it, the pickup seems to phase a little when soloed. Is this normal? How do I overcome this?

What do mean by 'phase'?
It can't be 'out of phase' when soloed- if it was wired backwards you'd notice a loss of lows but only when mixed with the other pickup.
Do you mean some sort of 'scooped mid' sound?

FWIW:

don't know about overcoming it but if you temporarily wire the pup straight to the jack and it sounds the same - what you hear coming from the bass there is only coming from the pup and therefore what it sounds like.

You need at least two coils to get out of phase.
