Question Pick Up Confusion

Sign in to disble this ad
G'day!

I am looking for new set of passive jazz p/ups for a 5 string jazz bass and have since discovered that there are so many options out there!!!

As such, I though that I would seek some advise off the TB army!

This bass is going to be used for playing Tool/Lamb of God style of music; primarily with a pick. Not 100% sure of the p/up spacing/space provided for the p/ups - I am led to believe that it is a 'standard' spacing (if there is such thing as standard!!!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks heaps in advance!
Simon

Yeah - I had Barts in my old Cort Elrick 5; this is 50% of the reason why I sold it!
The Barts did not agree with my playing style - not sure whether it was just me but they were not 'bright' enough. Since then I have avoided any bass with Barts!
Thanks all the same

duncan basslines makes a 67/70 single coil set that fits fenders. i dont think
dimarzio 5 string pickups will fit. also nordstrand makes fender replacements.
i am going to try the duncans eventually....

Yeah - I was looking at the Duncan's.
It seems that there are only 2 'major' manufactures of p/ups; EMG & Seymour Duncan.
I live in Melbourne, Australia and there isn't really that much in the way of bass p/ups.
