Pick-up Resistance

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

New poster. Great site.

I've got a short scale Epiphone EB-1, the guitar is great and the tone is acceptable but the pick-up volume is rather weedy with a resistance of barely 3K.

I'm thinking of a replacement, and there's two options: an 8K one or an 30K one ( I'm very doubtful of this huge figure as only vintage Gibbies can muster that output ).

Does the resistance figure make any difference to the tonal quality of the bass or is it just pure volume ?

JR.
