Pick ups Covers?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have 5 string demarzio jazz pickups in my bass with the exposed posts. I have an extreme case of sweaty hands and dont want my posts to start rusting. Are there covers that can go over them or maybe custom made? If so, would it affect my sound at all? I havent had a bass with exposed posts in years but the last one i had rusted so bad i had to change the pickups and dont want to have to do that to this one.

Start looking around bass parts distributors' sites as they usually stock closed covers for most pickup sizes. If that doesn't work for you, clean the polepieces with a paper towel and cover them in clear nail polish - that seals the top of the pickup from moisture and prevents rusting.

Custom covers don't affect the sound, neither does nail polish.

as far as I know, the DiMarzio fivestring PUs have the same size as the bridge PU of a four string set.
so all you should need are two covers for bridge pickup...
