Pickguard shielding

Sign in to disble this ad
Quick and probably basic question.... I've changed the pickguard on my MIA P from the stock black to a genuine Fender 62 RI Tort. The original pickguard had foil on the back. This new Tort does not have that foil. In my home, with the new pickguard on, the bass sounds quiet. So my question... Should I put some foil on the back of this pickguard? Or is this probably unncessary as P-basses are usually quiet. Any thoughts most welcome. Thanks.....

Well, I don't actually know if "it ain't broke". That the point of this post. Is this foil something that should be there? Or is it not necessary? On a Jazz, I know it should be there... but on a P? Anyone actually know?
