| What do you dislike about the current pups? Have you tried adjusting them for best sound? Do the pups overall sound fine but active preamp not so much due to how its treble and bass controls affect sound? If the latter only, then replaceing preamp is better choice. Btw a fair amount of metal bass players use stock soundgears, including some useing lower end ones, and theyve sounded quite good for the music in the mix.
