pickup bal. vs single vol. pot

my question is does the sound of having a pickup bal pot in the middle (meaning both are selected), the same sound as having them wored to a single vol
i.e. jazz bass= vol/vol/tone
rewired jazz= vol/pup bal./tone
so once again to reword this to make it more coherent
if i have the 2 vol.s up full does it sound the same as having the pup bal set in the middle?

Yeah, it's the same thing. Obviously it's a bit different, but when centered, full on, or full off, it'll have the same effect as having both pickups full, neck pickup soloed, and bridge pickup soloed.

Works for me, since I rarely pan a little bit either way... it's usually one pickup or both.
